Fr. Sanjeeb Xaxa

Parish Priest

Fr. Sanjeeb Xaxa, a newly arrived SVD missionary in the Irish British Province, hails from Odisha, India. Born in 1988, he is the youngest in a family of four brothers and two sisters, with his parents still alive. Sanjeeb's journey towards priesthood began after completing 10th grade when he enrolled in Divine Word College for 11th and 12th. Inspired by his uncle, a priest, and witnessing the positive impact of SVD priests during his college years, Sanjeeb joined the minor seminary in Lungai, Odisha, in 2006.

 

All of Sanjeeb's formation took place in India, involving learning English, pursuing spirituality, integration, and study courses, earning a degree, undergoing noviciate, engaging in philosophy and obtaining a master's degree, and participating in an Exposure and Immersion Programme in Arunachal Pradesh. His theological studies occurred in Pune, and he was ordained in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sundargarh on January 23, 2018.

Fr. Joseph Mensah

Fr. Joseph Mensah was born and bred in Ghana. He comes from a family of six—three sisters and two brothers. He is the last born of his parents.

He studied philosophy and religion at St. Victor’s Major Seminary, Tamale, Ghana. Fr. Mensah studied theology at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Ireland. His pastoral experience includes Clinical Pastoral Education which involved hospital Chaplaincy in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin.

On 29th January, 2021, Fr. Mensah professed his Perpetual Vows in the Society of the Divine Word, (SVD), Irish-British Province. He was ordained Deacon on 29 June, 2021, by Most Rev. Kevin Doran, Bishop of Elphin diocese, Ireland. 

Fr. Mensah was ordained to the Priesthood by the Most Reverend Dermot Farrell, D.D., Archbishop of Dublin, in The Church of St. Philip, the Apostle, Mountview, on Saturday, 29th of January 2022. 

His hobbies includes football (soccer) and Volley Ball.
